AI House

Career-rocket AI bootcamp. Cool community housing. AGI/SAGI sandbox. We’re rolling all of it into one real-world apartment in Fall Creek—what it becomes is up to the housemates who choose it.

Hi, I’m Steve Moraff (creator of MoraffWare). After 15 years renting to Cornell grads, I’m opening one renovated 3-bedroom, 1.5-bath unit—about a mile from campus—as an open-ended experiment. Live here, build here, learn here… or simply enjoy affordable, quiet housing for the Fall term (really hard to find in Ithaca).

These apartments feature modern kitchens with dishwashers/garbage disposals, 1.5 baths, updated windows, and high ceilings. Renovated in 2009 and well maintained by an on-site manager.

The AI House project is managed by Jadyn, who already lives in apartment 2 and could be your future housemate.

Each participant’s room includes a capable Linux desktop with dual 4K monitors for serious work!

$800/month — all utilities + fast Internet included.

What is AI House?

AI House is an open-ended experiment: a place where you can pursue one or more paths—treat it like a career-rocket AI bootcamp, a cool community housing setup, an AGI/SAGI learning lab, or simply a great chance for Fall-only housing in a building that doesn’t usually offer it. Maybe you'll just do your studies at Cornell, or maybe we'll click and install an LLM server in the apartment and go to town!

We welcome Cornell CS/IS students as well as remote workers or local code-minded Ithacans.

We have just two openings at this time, available now. Lease are flexible, 10–12 months or Fall-only, or even adjustable end-date leases are available. If the experiment clicks, we’ll expand to more apartments.

Ideal for programmers and builders who enjoy coding, experimenting with AI, and shipping projects. Contribute as much as you like and help shape where AI House goes next.

Who is Steve Moraff?

I’m the creator of MoraffWare, a classic PC games studio. These days I’m exploring world-class educational software that boosts AI-savvy and brainpower—especially for languages (Chinese, Russian, Spanish) and math. I’ve coded in many languages; my current experiments are in JavaScript.

Where Will AI House Go?

We don’t know yet—that’s the fun part. We’re not chasing huge profits; we’re chasing real learning and contribution. If it thrives, this could evolve into a formal organization that eventually acquires the 811 property and scales the mission. Early housemates could become founders of that future venture.

The Details

Participants sign our standard, tenant-friendly, adjustable lease. Fall-only is available; you won’t pay rent for months you’re not here.

No requirement to produce work. AI House claims no ownership over what you create unless you explicitly opt into an AI House–defined project. We encourage open source, and you’re free to pursue personal or side projects independently.
